Went to Kin-yoobi Con in Newark, CA last weekend. Barely broke even but I’m glad I did not have a single chibi commission this time XD
I’m happy my patrons are happy.
There is a commission I did not take a picture of. It’s because I’m not proud of it. Why? I was commissioned to draw a penis.
Yes. A penis. There are people who ask for weird stuff to be drawn on paper.
And of course I took it.

HELL YEAH I’ve already made up my mind on becoming a cat or a cow when I’m born again. Being a cat would be awesome too, but I really prefer cow.
I’d like to be reincarnated into a California cow please. I’ll chill as long as I want, eat and hang out, being taken cared of by eager-to-learn pre-vet students, and when it’s my time to go to become a grade AAAAA beef, I’ll even have a luxury of peaceful death so my meat don’t get tense.
I so deserve to be reborn as a cow. I’ve been a good human.

I feel like I’ve become a grown-up when…
1. When I don’t care eating by myself in a public place.
2. When I can french braid my hair, and not mess up.
3. When the survival instinct pushes my own ass to get up and run that errand. (Example: I need cash… I guess I can do it tomorrow, but other errands will pile up, then I’d eventually have no time to run any errands, then I won’t get anything done, maybe I’ll go jobless and homeless, I won’t be able to support myself… ugh, just get up and go to the bank.)
4. When I’m on auto-pilot mode driving on familiar routes. I space out… 20 minutes later, arriving at destination.
5. When I intentionally eat all the things I used to hate (yogurt, bell peppers, onions, cooked carrots, etc) because it’s good for me.
6. When I check Facebook more often than before, because I feel like I can’t afford to lose more friends.
7. When high schoolers whining doesn’t sound annoying anymore, but rather cute and I feel like I should give them a good advice.
8. When I read news articles, or stop on CNN while flipping TV channels because I don’t want to be behind on current events.
9. When I filter stories as I tell my parents about how I’m doing, because I don’t want them to be concerned.
10. When I wake up early just so I can go to sleep early at the end of a day, and wake up early the next day.

Fanime 2012 Recap
Fanime 2012 in short was….. SUPER FUNNNNNNNN!!!!
Oh gawwwd I want to re-live last weekend if only I can. I would say this year’s Fanime wasn’t that different from the last Fanimes I’ve been to, but now that I’m a responsible “grown-up”, living not so fun “grown-up” life, I appreciated that four sweet days of Fanime much much much more than I used to.
It was a magical weekend- I had wonderful food, met awesome people, and now I feel as if I’m charged with motivation to draw better..!!! Seriously it was a miracle anyone stopped by my table and was interested in my stuff because all the other artists were so talented I wouldn’t’ve bothered to look at me if I was a con-goer. Well. The bright yellow table helped I guess hahaha.
I don’t know if anyone’s visiting mine and Ekllips’s tumblr from seeing it on our business cards. If you are, thank you for stopping by our table =] I think Fanime’s artist alley is getting bigger, better, and with more talented artists as the years go. See you guys again next year (hopefully) =D
BTW, is anyone going to AX? Anyone tabling at AX? Anyone know anyone who’s tabling at AX? Ekllips and I are going for fun, but we were too late to sign up for an artist alley table =( If you are so kind to let us have half of your table space just for Saturday and Sunday, we’ll be more than happy to pay for the space we’ll be taking! If you know anyone who has a half of table space he or she is willing to share, please let me know. Pretty please? =D
Here is a commission that made me almost cry in process.
Two older men came up to my table at Fanime, checked out my portfolio, and handed me two pieces of paper. One had their original character design and description on it, and the other had reference photos of what the commissioned character should be wearing. Two charcters, watercolor, full body commission; I accepted generous amount of patronage.
After they went away to enjoy Fanime, I started reading the first page of the papers they gave me. Turns out, it was not only the description of their original character, but the exact composition of a scene in which the characters should be in. Extremely detailed. Honestly, I regretted taking the commission without reading what the commissioner wants first.
I ended up taking a pose-reference photo with Ekllips to draw. Here is me- posing as a handsome stud forming a small hurricane out of my right palm to lift a piece of cake for my new bride. Ekllips is posing as a character with dark skin and leafy hair, holding a fork with her left hand to stab at a piece of cake “Justin” is holding up with a small hurricane. She’s also supposed to be wearing a wedding dress, design provided by the commissioner.
As grateful and honored as I am for having been chosen to draw someone’s hard-worked original character, I realized how important it is to let the commissioners know of their commissionee’s limit. I’m apparently not skilled enough.

Chibi commissions from Fanime 2012. I forgot/was too lazy to bring copic markers to the convention table this year, so all of them were colored with watercolor.
Good thing about watercolor is that I can make as many colors as I need, as opposed to copics with limited colors I have available. What I don’t like about watercolor on chibi style is how sheer colors come out to be. I guess I could’ve made more intense colors; but again, I forgot/was too lazy, and it just simply did not cross my mind at the time.

Suki is one of my favorite characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Not only because we have the same name- but because she rocks the Kiyoshi warrior makeup!!! (which would look like clown makeup if others do it)
So I’m about three years too late on drawing Suki fanart.. but oh well, better late than never.
I was so excited to have a print that’s not chibi, but this print only sold three, hahaha.
